Looking for a smartwatch in Ireland? Here's what we'd actually buy.
Not everyone needs a €500 smartwatch. The right choice depends on your phone, what you want to track, and how much you're prepared to spend. We've compared the watches available from Fone4U to help you find one that makes sense.
Stock and prices can change daily. Please check the product page for today's price and availability before you decide. If a watch has sold out, ask in store or leave your email on its page.
Do you actually need a €300 watch?
Let's be honest. Plenty of people are perfectly happy with a €40 watch that counts steps and shows notifications. We've written a separate guide to those in our best earbuds, headphones, and smartwatches under €100.
So why spend more? Usually it's for one of these:
You want a watch that works properly with your phone, including calls, payments, and apps.
You want better health and fitness tracking.
You want it to feel nice on your wrist and last for years.
If that sounds like you, read on. We'll tell you which watch suits which person and where we think you'd be paying for something you don't need.

The first question: what phone do you have?
This matters more than any spec. Most smartwatches only work properly with one kind of phone.
iPhone
You want an Apple Watch. The Series 12 needs an iPhone 11 or later with iOS 27 or later, according to its product page.
Samsung phone
A Galaxy Watch works best with Samsung phones.
Other Android phone
The Pixel Watch is a good fit, and a Garmin works with both iPhone and Android.
Check what phone they use before anything else. It's the most common gift mistake we hear about.
Our honest take on each one
Here's what stands out about each watch and who we think should consider it.
So which one should you buy?
Match your situation to our recommendation.
"I HAVE AN IPHONE AND WANT THE BEST."
Apple Watch Series 12
"I HAVE AN IPHONE AND WANT GOOD VALUE."
Apple Watch SE 3
"I HAVE A SAMSUNG PHONE."
Galaxy Watch 8 Classic
"I HAVE AN ANDROID PHONE AND A SMALLER BUDGET."
Pixel Watch
"I RUN, AND I WANT LONG BATTERY LIFE."

A few things to check before you buy
Five quick checks can help you avoid buying the wrong watch.
A GPS-only watch needs your phone nearby for calls and data. A cellular watch can work alone, but it needs a data plan from your network.
A bigger watch has a bigger screen and battery, but it can feel large on a small wrist. The Series 12 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, and the SE 3 listed is 40mm.
Most smartwatches need charging daily or every couple of days. Garmin watches last longer.
A second-hand watch is tested and graded and costs less, but check the warranty and condition on the product page.
Health sensors are useful for trends, but they don't replace a doctor.

Quick answers to common smartwatch buying questions.
What is the best smartwatch to buy in Ireland?
It depends on your phone. For an iPhone, the Apple Watch Series 12 or the cheaper SE 3. For a Samsung phone, the Galaxy Watch8 Classic. For running, the Garmin Forerunner 55.
Is an Apple Watch worth it?
If you have an iPhone and want calls, notifications, payments and fitness tracking in one place, many people think so. If you only want to count steps, a lower-priced watch will do.
Can I use an Apple Watch with an Android phone?
No. Apple Watch needs an iPhone.
GPS or cellular Apple Watch: which should I choose?
A GPS model needs your iPhone nearby for calls and data away from Wi-Fi. A cellular model can work without your phone, but needs a plan. The Series 12 we have is GPS only.
Is a second-hand smartwatch a good idea?
It can be, because it costs less. Every second-hand watch we sell is tested and graded with a 12-month warranty, and you can add a new battery to the Apple Watches for €39.
Which smartwatch has the best battery life?
Garmin watches usually last the longest, often days. Apple Watches and most Wear OS watches need charging every day or two.
Can I pay for a smartwatch in instalments?
Yes. Klarna and Humm are available at the online checkout.
How do I know if a watch is in stock?
The product page shows an Add to cart button or a Sold out label. You can also message us on WhatsApp or visit a shop.
