About this phone
Product details
Apple iPhone SE (2022) — 3rd Generation - Full phone specs
The iPhone SE 2022 is Apple's definitive answer to a question millions of iPhone users ask every year: can I get the Apple experience—iOS, the App Store, iMessage, FaceTime, Apple Pay, and the security of Face ID's spiritual predecessor Touch ID — without spending €900 on a flagship device?
The answer with the third-generation iPhone SE is a resounding yes. Apple has placed its A15 Bionic chip — the same processor that powered the iPhone 13 Pro — inside a compact, familiar chassis that fits comfortably in one hand, charges quickly, and connects to 5G networks. The result is a phone that outperforms every Android device at twice its price in processing speed while running the latest version of iOS, backed by Apple's full software support commitment.
For buyers who want iOS, who prefer a compact phone, or who are upgrading from an older iPhone SE or iPhone 8, the 2022 SE is the most rational and technically impressive entry point into the current Apple ecosystem.
Available now at fone4u.ie with an 18-month warranty and free delivery over €100 across Ireland.
A15 Bionic — Faster Than Any Android at This Price
The A15 Bionic is not a mid-range chip with Apple branding. It is the same processor Apple designed for the iPhone 13 series — a chip that, in independent benchmarks, outperforms every Android processor across single-core performance, machine learning tasks, and image signal processing. Placed inside the iPhone SE, it means a phone at this price runs faster than Android flagship devices costing significantly more.
For everyday use—app loading, photo processing, video, gaming, and augmented reality—the A15 Bionic delivers instant, lag-free performance that will remain relevant for years of future iOS updates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes—and for a specific buyer profile, it remains one of the best-value smartphones available anywhere. The A15 Bionic chip within the iPhone SE 2022 is even faster than most mid-range Android chips in 2026. Moreover, due to Apple’s software support policy, the iPhone SE 2022 will continue getting iOS updates for some time to come. Thus, for individuals who prefer having iOS at a lower price point, those who value small size and one-handed usability, and those who upgrade from an older iPhone, the SE 2022 is an appealing choice in 2026.
The iPhone SE 2022 uses Apple's A15 Bionic chip — the same processor found in the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro at launch. In independent benchmark testing (Geekbench, AnTuTu), the A15 Bionic achieves single-core scores that exceed every Android processor in the mid-range category and compete with Android flagship chips costing significantly more. For everyday tasks — app loading, photography processing, gaming, and video — the A15 Bionic delivers performance that outpaces Android competitors at two to three times the price of the SE.
Yes. The 5G technology has been added to the device for the first time on the recently released 2022 iPhone SE model. It uses the sub-6GHz 5G network, and it will support Irish networks, including Three Ireland, Vodafone Ireland, and Eir. Where 5G is accessible, one will experience much faster data transfer than when using 4G LTE. In areas where a 5G network isn't available, it will automatically switch to using 4G LTE.
As far as we know, no exact information has been released regarding the time when the Apple iPhone SE 2022 will receive the last iOS update from Apple. Based on the history of the firm, the iPhone SE 2022 will keep receiving iOS software updates for at least five to six years to come. This could be until 2027-28 and onwards.
The 12-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), Smart HDR 4, and support for 4K video recording offers image quality that is far better than one might expect based on the specification. With the help of Apple’s image signal processor, a component of the A15 Bionic system-on-a-chip, computational photography is used to push the capabilities of the sensor past its hardware-based potential. This gives the SE 2022 camera the ability to keep up with many Android smartphones with bigger sensor numbers.
The Touch ID on the iPhone SE 2022 is a unique security technology designed by Apple that comes with the fingerprint recognition feature in its power button on the right side of the phone. This feature is used for unlocking the device, validating transactions in Apple Pay, and authenticating payments made through the App Store by using fingerprint identification. Although it doesn’t have Face ID, which uses the depth-sensing camera array featured in all iPhones 12 and newer, Touch ID still offers reliable and quick performance for authentication purposes. And for those who don’t like using face-based recognition, Touch ID becomes quite an asset in this case.
Yes, MagSafe and Qi wireless charging are supported. MagSafe chargers deliver up to 15W wireless charging, while Qi chargers provide up to 7.5W. A wired 20W fast charger is also supported via the Lightning port. Note that the power adapter is not included in the box—a charger is sold separately at fone4u.ie.
It all depends on personal choice. The phone with 4.7 inches is not as big as the 6.1 to 6.7 inches usually used in iPhones in 2025/2026, but people who prefer operating the smartphone using one hand or who find that a smaller phone suits them better will definitely appreciate this model, since larger phones are simply too big for them to use. On the other hand, for people whose main activity is watching videos or browsing through pictures, the smaller size is not going to work.
The iPhone SE 2022 can be bought in black (midnight), white (starlight), and Product RED at Fone4U. Check fone4u.ie for current color and storage configuration availability. Stock across variants changes frequently — if a specific combination is required, the Fone4U team can advise on availability at any of the three stores.
Yes. The SE 2022 supports both a physical Nano-SIM and eSIM and can be configured as a dual-SIM device. eSIM is supported by Vodafone Ireland, Eir, and Three Ireland. Activating an eSIM requires contacting your carrier, who provides a QR code scanned through the phone's settings. This enables remote SIM activation without a physical card—useful for travelers using temporary local SIMs.
Some of the distinctive features of the iPhone 12 include a larger 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, Face ID, dual rear cameras with the ultrawide camera, and a new design. Distinctive features of the iPhone SE 2022 are the inclusion of a new powerful A15 Bionic chip (which is more efficient than the A14 chip in the iPhone 12) and a smaller size. The SE 2022 is better for buyers who prefer compact size, Touch ID, and the absolute best processor at this price point.

Why it matters
Original parts vs cheap copies
Every part in this phone is its own original part. Nothing has been swapped for a cheap copy. Here’s why that matters.
Original partCheap copy part
Screen
True colours, full brightness and True Tone, with smooth, precise touch
Duller colours, lower brightness and often no True Tone. Touch can lag or miss
Battery
Full rated capacity, safety-tested, and Battery Health reads correctly
Often less real capacity, can run hot or swell, and Battery Health may show “Unknown” or “Service”
Cameras
Sharp focus, accurate colour, and Night mode and stabilisation work as designed
Softer photos, slow focus, and some camera features can stop working
Face ID & Touch ID
Works securely, exactly as the manufacturer intended
Can stop working completely, and copy parts can’t bring it back
Messages on your phone
No “Unknown Part” or “Non-genuine” warnings in Settings
iPhone can show an “Unknown Part” message that stays in Settings
Water & dust seals
Precise original fit and seals
Looser fit and weaker seals, so more likely to fail early
Resale value
Keeps its full trade-in and resale value
Worth less when you sell or trade it in, and some shops refuse it
Every Fone4U phone is tested in Ireland and covered by our warranty. If a part ever needs replacing, we only fit a genuine one.
