Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November. If you want a phone, tablet, or laptop, a refurbished one is often the better buy. Refurbished prices are already lower than new all year, so you're not waiting for one day to get a good price, and you avoid paying full price for the latest model.
What matters more than the discount is what you get for the money: an unlocked phone, a battery you can trust, a proper warranty, and an easy way to return it. This guide shows you what to check, which iPhones are worth a look at each budget, and how to spread the cost.
Key dates to put in your diary
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| Until 1 November | Halloween offer: up to €100 off refurbished iPhones |
| Friday, 27 November | Black Friday |
| Monday 30 November | Cyber Monday |
| Tuesday 23 December | Last day to collect a phone reserved with the Christmas Club |
Is refurbished worth it on Black Friday?
It can be if you compare the right things. A few points to keep in mind:
- Compare the total cost, not the headline discount. A deal on a new phone can depend on a contract, a trade-in or a long monthly payment. Add it all up and compare it with the single price of a refurbished phone.
- Last year's model is often the best value. A phone one or two generations old does almost everything the newest one does, for far less.
- Popular models sell out. Black Friday stock goes quickly, especially on the most popular iPhones, so decide what you want before the day.
- A refurbished phone doesn't depend on a sale. If the price is already right, you can buy it today.
7 things to check before you buy any refurbished phone
Whoever you buy from, check these before you pay:
Is it unlocked?
An unlocked phone works on any Irish network. At Fone4U, every phone is unlocked.
What is the battery health?
It should be stated, not guessed. Fone4U phones have 85%+ battery health.
How long is the warranty, and is it in writing?
Fone4U phones come with up to 18 months warranty. The length is shown on each product page.
What are the returns?
Look for a clear returns window. Fone4U offers free 15-day returns (see the returns policy).
What does the grade mean?
Premium, Excellent and Good describe how the phone looks, not how it works. Read the phone grades page for the difference.
Is it tested?
Ask what is checked before sale. Every Fone4U phone is tested and works properly.
Can you see it in person?
Seeing the phone before you pay removes most of the doubt. Fone4U has shops in Bray, Ballina and Sligo.

Not just phones: what else to look at
Black Friday isn't only for phones. If you're shopping for anything else, these are worth a look:
- Laptops and MacBooks for study and work
- iPads and tablets for the family
- Earbuds and smartwatches as gifts
- Power banks and chargers to go with a new phone
Ways to pay and how to lock in a price
You can pay by card or Google Pay, or spread the cost with Humm or Klarna at the online checkout. Our guide to whether Humm is worth it explains how it works.
If you'd rather pay a little at a time, the Christmas Club lets you reserve a phone in store from a €20 deposit and lock in the price. You then pay whatever suits you until it's paid off. Two things to know: the deposit is non-refundable, and the Christmas Club is run in store only, not online. Collect by Tuesday 23 December.

Mistakes to avoid
- Waiting until Black Friday itself. Popular models can sell out, so shortlist early.
- Comparing a monthly price with a total price. Always work out what you'll pay in full.
- Buying a locked phone. If it isn't unlocked, it may not work with your network.
- Choosing on looks alone. A cosmetic grade tells you nothing about the battery, so check that too.
- Skipping the warranty. A long warranty is the best sign that a seller trusts its own phones.
Try before you buy.
